So, you may be wondering, "What in the world is a Toller?".
“Toller” is short for Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. A Toller is a highly intelligent, high energy, outdoor loving, easily trained, people loving breed that originated in Canada. It is the provincial dog of Nova Scotia and is favored by many in the USA.

Like any other breed, the Toller sometimes find themselves in dangerous or neglectful situations.
This is where Toller Rescue, Inc. actively steps in, regardless of location, to assist a reported Toller in need!
TRI understands your donation is important to you, and how it's used is even more important:
Outreach
TRI works with other shelters, rescue organizations, even law enforcement in USA and Canada to rescue purebred Tollers and possible Toller mixes.
Health
TRI meets the medical needs of at-risk Tollers and possible Toller mixes regardless of location.
Education
TRI works with foster and adoptive Toller families to educate them on the Toller breed’s unique needs and personality.

That will get him out of the weatherford Animal Shelter. rescue can tag with a foster. There are plans for further leash work and training. This boy has so much potential. Anyone?

🐾 Meet Garrison! 🐾. ADOPTED
Garrison is not yet two years old and is currently available through Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue in Minnesota. One of our wonderful Toller community members has been fostering this handsome boy, and we’d love to help him find the perfect forever home!
A foster-to-adopt option is available for anyone interested in making sure Garrison is the right fit.

🐾 **UPDATE ON JAY — STILL WAITING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME** 🐾
Our sweet boy **Jay is still waiting for his person.** ❤️
The good news is that Jay has reached his **target weight**, his energy is back, and he has a little more pep in his step these days. It has been wonderful to see him feeling so much better.
Now we really need to find him the right home.
Jay would probably do best in a home **without cats or other small animals**. He has never lived with children, so we feel his ideal placement may be with an **active senior person or couple, or another experienced dog owner** who can give him the love, structure, companionship, and security he deserves. Jay is great with other dogs. He currently lives with two Tollers and does great.
There is also some urgency. Jay’s current foster has family members facing surgery and needs to focus on caring for them, so **we need to get Jay into a safe, loving home as soon as possible.**
Our sweet **Jay-Bird**, also known as **J.J.**, deserves to unpack his bags for the last time. ❤️

🚨 EXPERIENCED FOSTER NEEDED — TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI AREA 🚨
We are looking for a very special, experienced foster near or around Tupelo, Mississippi, for a sweet girl who is going to need some patience, understanding, and time to decompress.
She is currently extremely fearful of people. She knows humans bring food and good things, and she wants to be nearby, but right now she will not allow anyone to get closer than about three feet from her. Because of that, she will most likely need to be humanely trapped in order to get her to safety.
Being trapped can understandably make an already frightened dog even more unsure for a little while, so we need someone who has experience working with feral, semi-feral, or extremely fearful dogs and understands that the first job is simply to give her a safe, quiet place and allow her to decompress.
She is not an aggressive dog. She is scared to death and needs someone who understands the difference.
We are looking for a foster who:
• Has experience with very fearful or undersocialized dogs
• Will not push her before she is ready
• Can provide a secure, quiet environment
• Understands decompression and building trust slowly
• Is comfortable following safety protocols with a potential flight-risk dog
Underneath all that fear, we believe there is a very sweet girl who simply needs someone willing to give her the time to discover that people can be safe.
