Luc – 10-Year-Old Male Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

Luc is a 10-year-old male Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever seeking a calm, experienced, adult-only home where he can feel safe, secure, and understood.

Luc is highly intelligent, sensitive, and deeply devoted to his person. He thrives in quiet, structured environments with predictable routines. Once he feels comfortable, he is affectionate, loyal, and enjoys companionship while still valuing his independence.

Luc has many endearing qualities. He loves long naps in cozy hideaways, is obsessed with tennis balls, and enjoys playing fetch. Like many Tollers, he occasionally expresses his excitement with the famous "Toller scream." He enjoys following his favorite person around the house but is equally content relaxing on his own when he needs downtime.

A sporting breed at heart, Luc enjoys scent-based activities, sniff-heavy walks, snuffle mats, food puzzles, and other enrichment games. He is very food motivated and never forgets his nightly Greenie before bed. He also does well in structured daycare settings and especially enjoys water play and splash pads.

Luc does have behavioral challenges related to anxiety, fear-based reactivity, and resource guarding. He can become uncomfortable when feeling cornered, pressured, or approached too quickly, particularly by men. When stressed, he typically gives clear warning signals, including growling, before escalating. Because of this, he needs an experienced handler who understands canine body language, boundaries, and behavior management.

Luc's ideal home:

Adult-only household
No other pets
Calm, low-traffic environment
Experienced dog owner
Consistent structure, patience, and clear boundaries

Luc is neutered, house-trained, current on vaccinations, and maintained on regular flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. He has completed multiple training programs, understands basic commands, and benefits greatly from routine and consistency. He has no known medical issues and takes no daily medications.

This decision has been incredibly difficult and was made solely with Luc's best interests in mind. Over time, stress within the home contributed to increased protective and guarding behaviors surrounding his primary person. Despite extensive efforts to address these issues, it has become clear that Luc would have the best opportunity for success in a different environment.

Luc is not the right dog for every home, but for the right person, he has the potential to be an exceptionally loyal, intelligent, and rewarding companion. Trust with Luc is earned through patience, calm leadership, consistency, and respect for his boundaries. Once he feels safe, his playful, affectionate personality truly shines.

Additional information regarding Luc's routines, training history, and behavior will gladly be provided to help ensure a successful transition. #toller #tollerrescue #tollerrescueinc #tollerrescueincorporated #tollerrescuecalendar

Meet Mo!

Mo is an approximately 8-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who recently moved from Oklahoma to Texas with his family. He is a sweet, happy boy who enjoys being with his people, but he is having a difficult time adjusting to life with small children.

Because the activity and unpredictability of young children are stressful for him, his family has made the difficult decision to find him a home where he can be more comfortable and successful.

Mo Mo would do best in:

* An adult-only home
* A home where he can be the only dog
* A calm, predictable environment

Despite these challenges, Mo Mo is a loving, happy companion who deserves a family that understands his needs and can give him the peaceful home he is looking for.

If you think you might be the right match for Mo Mo, please reach out for more information. He deserves a second chance at a home where he can relax, thrive, and enjoy his golden years. ❤️🐾

ADOPTED:

Update Declan has landed in his new Foster situation and we will update people on Declan. He is still available for adoption. He has been moved to McHenry Illinois so if you are in that area, please let us know. Would like to meet Declan. He’s a sweet, sweet boy he’s had a hard six years and he needs a soft place to land.

🚨 Emergency Foster or Adopter Needed for Declan – Stow, Ohio Area 🚨

Toller Rescue Inc. is urgently seeking either an experienced foster or adopter for Declan to help avoid moving him multiple times during an already stressful transition.

Declan is an approximately 6-year-old neutered male who recently went into a foster-to-adopt home with wonderful, experienced adopters. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, Declan’s nervous energy and quirks disrupted the household dog dynamic, and an altercation occurred last night in which Declan was injured. Thankfully, he was seen by the emergency vet and only required a couple of stitches.

Declan is VERY nervous, but he is also a very, very sweet boy. Time, patience, structure, and understanding are absolutely key for him. When stressed or overwhelmed in new environments, he can display odd behaviors such as air humping/excitement behaviors despite being neutered. These behaviors are stress-related and not aggression.

He is:
• Fully vetted
• Neutered
• Heartworm negative
• Currently on medication
• Eating a limited ingredient diet
• Awaiting allergy testing results, expected within the next few weeks

Declan will need a follow-up vet visit in approximately two weeks to have his stitches removed, and TRI will coordinate care wherever he is placed.

This boy truly deserves someone willing to see past the anxiety and give him the chance to decompress and feel safe.

Please, if you think you may be able to help Declan, reach out as soon as possible.

Update on Achilles 🐾💙
Achilles is still with us at the trainer’s and continues to make amazing progress every single day. After everything this sweet boy has been through, it has been incredible watching him learn to trust, gain confidence, and truly start enjoying life.
He is now ready to find his forever home.
Achilles has survived so much and deserves a family willing to give him the chance he never had before — a home filled with patience, structure, kindness, and love. He continues to thrive with training and guidance and would do best with adopters committed to helping him continue building on all the wonderful progress he has made.
We would still love to find him a home in or near Houston, Texas, so he can maintain his relationship with Kelly at Geronimo Kennels and continue benefiting from her support during the transition into family life.
Please consider opening your heart and home to Achilles. Dogs like him remind us what resilience truly looks like. 🐾

ADOPTED !!!!!!!!
Meet Max & Maggie ❤️

These beautiful 4-year-old littermates are a bonded pair currently settling into foster care while we begin their veterinary workup and get to know them better.

Max and Maggie have clearly been through a lot together, and ideally we would love to place them in a home together. That said, we are open to discussing separate placements if the right situation presents itself.

✨ Maggie
• Spayed female
• Has epilepsy that is successfully managed with medication
• Medication costs approximately $30/month or less
• Sweet girl, but can be selective with some smaller dogs due to being repeatedly harassed by one when she was younger
• Looking for understanding people who will continue her care and help her feel safe

✨ Max
• Loves everybody and everything
• Friendly, happy boy
• Will be neutered as part of his vetting process

Both dogs are currently in foster care and will be heading to the vet this week, so we expect to have more information soon regarding temperament, medical care, and ideal placement situations.

If you are interested in Max, Maggie, or possibly opening your home to both of them, please reach out. ❤️

Does anybody remember Bonnie? ❤️

Bonnie was the last of our captures from the Okmulgee, Oklahoma rescue effort — and her story is nothing short of incredible.

Our amazing trapper, Tina, finally caught Bonnie in November after Bonnie had been surviving on the run for over 18 months. By that point, she had also been without the rest of her Toller pack since the previous March when we captured Clyde. To survive that long on her own and still learn to trust again is truly remarkable.

Bonnie is still with Tina, and we honestly could not have asked for a more patient and dedicated person to help her transition into life as a beloved indoor dog. She has come so far. Bonnie actually likes being inside now — something we once weren’t sure would ever happen.

She has completed heartworm treatment, is doing very well medically, and we estimate she is about 2–3 years old.

Bonnie still needs understanding and patience as she continues adapting to normal life, but she is blossoming more every day. We all feel she would do best in a home with fewer dogs so she can finally receive the attention and connection she deserves.

What Bonnie needs:
✨ An experienced Toller-savvy home
✨ At least one other confident, stable dog
✨ A securely fenced yard
✨ Possibly a kennel area within that secure fencing
✨ People with patience, time, compassion, and realistic expectations as she adjusts to a new life

We know we are looking for unicorns… but we also believe unicorns and magic exist. ❤️

If you feel like you might be Bonnie’s magical unicorn home, please reach out. We would love to have a conversation.

Toller Rescue Inc
Meet Declan ❤️

Declan is an approximately 6-year-old “Toller-ish” pup looking for a Foster-to-Adopt or Adoptive home in the Stow, Ohio area as soon as possible.

While we have not done DNA testing on Declan, we have done just about everything else to make sure he is healthy and supported. He was originally pulled from a shelter into a foster-to-adopt situation with a very experienced home that has adopted from us successfully several times before.

Unfortunately, through absolutely no fault of his own, Declan has shifted the dynamic within the resident dogs in the home, and it is simply not the right long-term fit.

Declan is truly a sweet boy. He loves his people, enjoys other dogs, and is learning how to just “be a dog.” Sometimes he likes his dog friends a little too much and can be overly enthusiastic, which may be annoying to dogs that prefer more personal space. Because of that, he would benefit from continued structure, guidance, and some training.

We are actively working with our veterinarian and have already completed extensive bloodwork and medical evaluation. Overall, Declan is a loving, affectionate dog with so much potential for the right home.

We are urgently seeking:
🐾 Foster-to-Adopt
🐾 Foster home
🐾 Adoptive home

📍 Preferred area: Stow, Ohio or surrounding areas

Declan deserves a chance to settle into a home where he can continue to grow, thrive, and be understood. Please reach out if you think you may be the right fit or can help us network this sweet boy.

Meet Suki 🌸

Suki is a stunning, spirited girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s smart, engaged, and loves being part of whatever her people are doing. Whether it’s exploring outdoors, learning something new, or simply staying close to her humans, Suki thrives on connection and partnership.

She is an active, driven dog who will do best in a home that provides structure, daily exercise, and continued training. Enrichment, hiking, obedience work, or dog sports would all be wonderful outlets for her energy and intelligence. Suki truly shines when she has a job and a person to bond with.

Suki will be placed in an adult-only home and cannot live with other female dogs. She needs an experienced, dog-savvy owner who understands leadership, consistency, and clear boundaries.

In return, Suki will give you loyalty, devotion, and a deeply connected partnership. She is a lot of dog in the very best way — bright, engaging, and ready to give her whole heart to the right home.

If you’re experienced and looking for a smart, active companion, Suki may be your perfect match. 🐾💛

Suki has been with a trainer for three weeks and our trainer will be part of her adoption process

Charlie is fine with cats !!!!!!!!!!!

Meet Charlie 🐾

Charlie is a 3-year-old neutered male Toller mix with a gentle soul and so much potential. DNA testing from a previous foster indicated he is approximately 63% Toller (documentation not available).

Charlie recently returned to rescue after spending over a year in a home that ultimately wasn’t the right fit. Now he’s looking for a patient, understanding person or family to help him truly settle in and thrive.

Charlie is a shy boy who gains confidence from other dogs, so he must go to a home with at least one confident, friendly dog. He does very well in a pack setting and takes comfort in canine companionship.

He’s currently been working with our trainer/foster Nikki for the past three weeks and is doing marvelously, already showing great progress as his confidence begins to grow.

He enjoys long walks and does well at the dog park. Because he can be nervous, he would do best in a home without small children, though older, dog-savvy kids would be just fine.

Charlie tends to bond more quickly with women, but with time, patience, and consistency, he can build trust with anyone. He will need a calm home that understands shy dogs and is willing to let him adjust at his own pace.

With the right match, Charlie will blossom into an incredibly loyal and loving companion—and he truly is a gorgeous boy inside and out. #tollerretriever #tollersofinstagram #toller #tollersofig #tollers #tollersmile #tollersmiles
